A modern brewery is also a sustainable brewery. And one of the oldest beer makers in the Netherlands, Grolsch, is going to become an exceptional one because it has been using only green electricity from the beginning of the year.

There are many ways of lowering a company’s CO2 emissions. Our major beer-maker in the Netherlands has chosen to start with the most straightforward ones, with energy coming to the company. As of 2020, it only uses electricity generated by wind turbines, thus reducing CO2 emissions by 6,700 tons of CO2 per year. At first this applies to the brewing and wholesale part of the business, but the aim is to go further in the supply chain. Grolsch is already finding new solutions for recycled packaging or reusing the waste, which is in line with their new policy called Sustainable. Character.

In Asahi, we take contributing to a better, greener and more sustainable world. Let’s celebrate this huge step of Grolsch. Cutting down the equivalent of emissions produced by approximately 3000 households annually is definitely a success!
