Our Czech and Slovak brewer Plzeňský Prazdroj recieved two prestigious awards in 2022 TOP Responsible Company. The professional jury recognized Prazdroj´s Sustainability Report as the best one in Czechia. At the same time, Prazdroj received the top prize within the entire competition and became Trendsetter among large companies. The prize was awarded to Prazdroj for setting trends in the area of corporate responsibility in the long term, as well as for new inspirational developments in the area of sustainability. The alliance Byznys pro společnost (Business for Society) has been giving these awards since 2011, and we have regularly been ranked among the top ones.

Commenting on the awards, Dragoș Constantinescu, Managing Director of Plzeňský Prazdroj said: “Sustainability is a strategic priority for us. We have set specific goals which we measure and evaluate, be it carbon neutrality, water consumption reduction, care for raw materials and our suppliers, repeated use of packaging, non-alcoholic portfolio or support of diversity. We are trying to develop this approach also in cooperation with our partners, suppliers and customers, and we have transparently recorded details of our activities in our Sustainability Report. We highly appreciate that the professional jury of the alliance Byznys pro společnost has recognized our company for this. It represents a positive motivation for our company and all our employees who help fulfil our sustainable vision”.

Prazdroj actively reduces its impact on the environment in production. Its most significant achievements in the area of sustainability last year include the offtake of so-called green heat from waste wood chips, or the reduction of volume of produced waste by 6 percent. The company also focused on other steps leading to the maximum circularity of packaging possible, such as the termination of filling beer into PET bottles and the increase of ratio of returnable packaging. Prazdroj also initiated an innovative project called FOR HOPS which supports hop growers and other activities in the area of precise agriculture.

Prazdroj published an overview of its ESG activities in its recent Sustainability Report, which the company has been publishing of its own accord for already 16 years. This year´s Sustainability Report was elaborated in a way so that it corresponds - to the maximum extent possible - with the rules of non-financial reporting prepared for European companies by the European Commission.
